How it works

From blank page to PDF in three steps

1

Write on a real page

Type onto a true A4 page. SlimDoc paginates live — page breaks appear as you write. Format text, drop in tables and images, add headers and footers.

2

Save one self-contained file

Press Ctrl/Cmd+S. SlimDoc writes a single .html file with all styling inlined. It re-opens straight back into the editor and renders in any browser. No proprietary format.

3

Print or export to PDF

One click sends the finished page to your browser's native print dialog. Backgrounds, headers, footers and page numbers all resolve. The PDF is faithful to the page.

Everything SlimDoc does

  • Insert "Page X of Y" or just "X" in the header or footer
  • Two numbering modes: continuous, or restart per document/section

Multiple documents in one file

Bundle related documents as named sections.

  • Keep several documents — e.g. a Contract plus an Appendix — in one file
  • Add, rename, delete and jump between sections
  • Per-section page numbering

Templates & placeholders

Reusable fill-in documents with guardrails.

  • Type {{placeholder}} tokens
  • Reserved-token highlighting
  • A warning when a placeholder would collide with built-in page-number tokens

FAQ

Questions, answered

Does my document leave my device?

No. SlimDoc runs entirely in your browser. Nothing is uploaded — there's no server and no account. Your document stays on your machine the whole time.

What file format does SlimDoc use?

It saves one self-contained .html file with all styling inlined. There's no proprietary format. That single file opens, renders and prints in any browser, and re-opens straight back into the editor.

How do I get a PDF?

Click Print / Export to PDF. SlimDoc uses your browser's native print dialog, and the output is faithful to the page — backgrounds, headers, footers and page numbers are all resolved.

Does it work offline?

Yes. Because everything runs locally in your browser, SlimDoc works offline. No connection is needed to write, save or export.

How much does it cost?

It's free. No sign-up, no watermark, no paid tier.

Which browsers are supported?

It works in any modern browser. On Chromium browsers it can save back to the same file in place using the File System Access API; other browsers use a download/upload fallback. Saved files open and print correctly in any browser.

How is this different from Google Docs or Word?

SlimDoc is local-first: nothing is uploaded and no account is required. It produces true A4 pages with live pagination and prints to a faithful PDF, and your whole document lives in a single portable .html file rather than a cloud document or a proprietary file.

Can I keep more than one document in a file?

Yes. You can bundle several documents — for example a Contract and an Appendix — as named sections in one file, then add, rename, delete and jump between them, with per-section page numbering.
